📚 Qualification as per Subject or Category

The NSKTU eligibility criteria for teaching positions are as per the UGC Regulations on Minimum Qualifications for Appointment of Teachers and other Academic Staff in Universities and Colleges and Measures for the Maintenance of Standards in Higher Education, 2018.

General Qualifications for Associate Professor:

  • Academic Record: Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant discipline.
  • Master’s Degree: At least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale).
  • Experience: Minimum of eight years of teaching and/or research experience equivalent to Assistant Professor in a University, College, or Accredited Research Institution/industry, with evidence of published work (minimum seven publications in peer-reviewed/UGC listed journals) and a total research score of at least 75.
  • Desirable: Ability to teach in Sanskrit medium. Proven record of experience in Yoga asanas and Practicals for Yoga Vijnana; practical knowledge in Agama for Agama.

General Qualifications for Assistant Professor:

  • Master’s Degree: Acharya/Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or an accredited foreign university.
  • National Eligibility Test (NET): Must have cleared NET (under code 73 or 25) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar accredited test like SLET/SET.
    • Ph.D. Exemption: Candidates awarded a Ph.D. Degree as per UGC Regulations 2009 or 2016 are exempted from NET/SLET/SET. Specific conditions apply for Ph.D. candidates registered prior to July 11, 2009 (regular mode, two external examiners, open viva voce, two research papers with one in a refereed journal, two papers presented in sponsored conferences/seminars).
    • Foreign Ph.D.: Ph.D. from a foreign university with a ranking among the top 500 by QS, THE, or ARWU also qualifies.
  • Desirable: Ability to teach in Sanskrit medium for all Assistant Professor posts.
  • For Assistant Professor in Education: In addition to the above, Siksha Acharya (M.Ed.)/M.Ed./M.A in Education with 55% marks is required.

Note: NET/SLET/SET is not required for Masters Programmes in disciplines where these tests are not conducted by UGC, CSIR, or similar accredited tests.
