Presidency University, Kolkata, is a distinguished public state university in West Bengal, India. Established in 1817 as Hindu College, it was later renamed Presidency College in 1855. After serving as a prominent constituent college under the University of Calcutta for over a century, it attained university status in July 2010 .
Online Applications are invited from UGC or UGC – CSIR NET qualified candidates for admission to the Ph.D. Programme of Presidency University in various departments/school/institute for the session 2025-2026 (Odd). Only completed online applications will be considered.

- Candidates for admission to the Ph.D. program shall have a Master’s degree with at least 55% of marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade. The Appearing candidates may also apply for provisional selection and admission. The appearing candidates are required to fulfil the essential qualifications by 31st July, 2025.
- A relaxation of 5% of marks or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed for
those belonging to SC/ST Person with Disability (PwD) as per UGC guidelines. - UGC or UGC-CSIR NET qualified with valid NET certificate.

Reservation for SC/ST/EWS/PWD will be as per West Bengal government rules.
Candidates claiming reservation must produce a valid certificate issued by the competent authorities listed in the notification.
The certificate will be verified during the interview/admission. If found invalid, the candidate will be moved to the General category.
For PwD candidates: The benchmark disability is 40% or more, as specified in the RPWD Act, 2016.
For SC/ST/EWS candidates: The notification clearly lists the designated government officials/offices in West Bengal who are authorized to issue these certificates. Applicants must ensure their documents are in order.
